A modernized central

The ninety was commenced in 1983, and the Ninety pursued in 1984. This was based on the earlier 2.3-litre (140 cu in) motor, but had a more up to date fuel-injection scheme as well as advanced capability. A reduced compression type of the 3.5-litre (214 cu in) V8 variety Rover engine changed presentation.
This period saw Land Rover market the utility Land Rover as a personal recreational vehicle. Whilst the rudimentary pick-up, position Wagon and van versions were still employed vehicles, the County position Wagons were traded as multi-purpose family vehicles, featuring improved interior trim and snugger chairs. This change was echoed in Land Rover beginning what had long been common practice in the car industry — minutia alterations and improvements to the shire form from year to year in order to appeal new purchasers and to encourage living owners to trade in for a new vehicle.

Engine Development

In 1981 the 2.25 l engines were upgraded from 3- to 5-crankshaft bearings in groundwork for the designed rises in capacity and power.
The 2.5-litre type of the diesel motor, displacing 2,495 cubic centimeters (152.3 cu in) and making 68 hp (51 kW), was introduced in both the One Ten and the freshly arrived Ninety. This was a long-stroke type of the venerable 2.25-litre unit, fitted with revised fuel injection gear and a revised cylinder head for quieter, smoother and more effective running. A timing band also restored the older engine's chain.
