Some spotlight on Impala

Chevrolet, as you all know, is a part and parcel of General Motors and introduced the model Impala, considered as a full size automobile in the year 1958. Named after the antelope found in South Africa, the car is one of the most expensive models under the brand name Chevrolet. Very soon after its introduction, the car started dominating the market thereby giving a touch competition to already established cars like the Plymouth Fury and the Ford Galaxie 500. It was a time when full sized cars ruled the industry. The triple taillights which is symmetrical in form, is designated as one of the most differentiated features of the Chevrolet Impala.

Introduction of Caprice

Chevrolet Impala The massive popularity of the Impala model of the cars forced the manufacturers to introduce a sport version of the same, and then came the Chevrolet Caprice. Though this version of the car was separated from the Impala category a few years later, the Impala continued to hold a good reputation in the market even in the middle of the 1980s. The manufacturers introduced an extremely powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine into the Caprice Classic model of sedan cars. The cars were remodelled and presented again in the year 2000, but this as a typical front-wheel full size sedan. The model for the year 2014 was presented with the best score in the category of large sedans by Consumer Reports.

Definition of Impala

The Impala was defined by the manufacturing company’s chief engineer, Ed Cole, as a car which shows your status and dignity in the right manner and is affordable for every American citizen as well. The manufacturing company has announced the upgrade of the Impala for the year 2014. This version is reported to be more upscale and larger than the model which exists till date. This was done was reducing the overslap of price between Malibu and Impala. Some of the latest features which are believed to be included in the latest model are the normal wheels of 18 inch, LED daytime and HID headlights which have a low profile, a display having Chevrolet Mylink, Pandora Radio and HD radio, active noise minimization, three different versions of cylinders and so on.

Birth of Impala

Chevrolet Impala, Photo #2 Initially, the name was given to the General Motors Motrama car that was presented in 1956 as a show car and was equipped with a Corvette-esque design. The car was painted in a metallic emerald green color which reflected its true nature and style. The interior was provided with a white color and had a hardtop styling as well. As reports suggest, the car did not survive for long. A design team under Clare MacKichan, in collaboration with Pontiac’s designers, took efforts in establishing the basic dimensions and packaging for the General Motors A body which they had shared in June. This is considered to be the first of the styling sketches which had grabbed the attention of Harley Earl, vice president of the styling section under General Motors, in October. The key design though, was fabricated after seven months.
