BMW 850 The BMW 850 is the series 8 car. It is popularly known as Motor sport legend super car. It has some extravagant features which got the popularity to it. The machine comes in two versions V12 and V8. These variants are the best cars ever produced by the BMW. They are the Grand Tourer engine cars. This car became the supplement to the original E24 in the year 1991. The production of the car was from 1989 to 1999. For one decade the car ruled the motor sport field to win many formula 1 and formula 2 races. This car does not precede or successor and it is entirely a brand new class of car. This car aimed at a different market and got the best use of it.

The car had 5L M70B50 V12 engine which produced 300 PS that is 221kW or 296 HP of power. The contagion of the car was with 4 speed and 5 speed automatic gear and 6 speed manual gear. This is the first car to get 6 speed gear and an electronic fly by wire throttle in the world of automotive. Also it is the first car to have multilink rear axle. The computerized CAD modeling helped the car to bring the stunning body style with simple perfection.

The BMW 850 came with 2 versions that is 850i and 850ci. After the successful launch of 850i version BMW decided to add “c” to produce the next version of the car. This change is made to clear indicate that “C” meant Coupe and it is not a quick convert. This was a 2 door car with a new engine M73B54 installed in it. The production of the car went up to 9 months continuously. With the increase in the engine capacity to 5.4L the compression ratio also got increased to produce a power output of 326 PS which 240kW or322 HP. The car gave the best performance.

The BMW launched the next version of the series which was called 850CSI. This is the top range sports Tourer which adopted the prototype from M8 version. The modification made to the engine of this car increased its capacity to 5.6L to get the excellent power output of 380 PS which is nothing but 279kW or 375 HP. With the upgraded substantial re-engineering the car produced less exhaust gas.

The car was provided with wider wheels with the wheelbase of 2685mm, length of 4780mm, width and height of 1854mm and 1341mm respectively. The curb weight of 850i and 850ci was 1830kg and that of 850csi was 1975kg which made it took majestic. The car was designed by Klaus Kapitza. The cost of the car increased subsequently.
